MEET THE COUNSELOR

Who is the School Counselor?

My name is Erin Scott, and I am the school counselor at Mt. Airy Elementary School. After graduating from Westminster High School, I went on to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. While working in the community mental health field in Pennsylvania, I completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling from McDaniel College. After serving as a long-term substitute school counselor throughout Carroll County, I am fortunate and excited to return to Mt. Airy Elementary School. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 410-751-3540 or erinscott@carrollk12.org. I look forward to another great school year!

Types of Counseling

Individual Counseling- students can come see the counselor for one-on-one support in the areas of academics, emotional, or social needs on an as-needed short-term basis. If the parent and/or school counselor feels the student could benefit from additional counseling, the school counselor can provide referrals to a community mental health professional.
Group Counseling- based on identified needs a group of 5 to 10 students will meet weekly for additional support. The sessions would last approximately 30 minutes and for 4-8 weeks.
Classroom Lessons- the counselor will design and implement developmentally appropriate lessons that target academic, career, or personal/social needs. The lessons will be every 2-3 weeks and last approximately 45 minutes.
